Teacher

I have been teaching at various studios in and around New York City since 2005. Throughout my time teaching I have gained extensive experience teaching ages 2.5 to adult in genres such as ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, lyrical, dance improv techniques, contemporary, and pre ballet at both the recreational and competitive levels. I feel most passionate about teaching younger children and instilling a strong technical foundation as well as a respect for the classroom and their fellow dancers.

Growing up my dance teachers taught me that the foundation for all dance is ballet and I like to instill this belief in my students. No matter what style of dance my students choose to pursue I always stress the need for a strong ballet foundation. My classes are challenging and require a lot of strength in both body and mind. I want my students to truly enjoy taking class and no matter what level they are at and learn lessons from class that they can take with them for years to come. I would like to thank my dance mentors growing up, Ellen Copeland and Marie Bolson, for giving me the gift of dance. My life would not be what it is today without your guidance and support.

Currently I am the Artistic Director of All Star Studios in Forest Hills, NY and a teacher for the after school program at PS 144 in Forest Hills, Queens. I have also had the honor to be on the faculty of Broadway Dance Center's Children and Teen Program, Group Services at Broadway Dance Center, and The Performing Arts Collective.

I am available for private, semi private, and master classes as well as competition solo, group, and production choreography. Please contact me at shaunaj83@Yahoo.com if you are interested in finding out more information on rate and availability.
